Hammurabi - 1792 - 1750 B.C.E was the sixth king of the first Babylonian dynasty.
Long thought to be a head of this illustrious king some debate remains on stylistic grounds if it is actually Hammurabi. Comparable to the highly defined character studies of Egypt's Middle kingdom Pharaohs, the folds of skin on this face hint at age and world weary wisdom that Hammurabi certainly had towards the end of his relatively long reign. He wears a crown and has carefully arranged ringlets in his beard.
Hammurabi's greatest legacy is his substantial law code which is the first law code that dealt with the levels of punishment for the law breakers. Previously the earlier Sumerian Ur-Nammu code focused more on compensation for the victim.
